License

Vespertine is free software under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or later. You may use it for any purpose, study and change its source code, and share copies, including modified ones, under the same license. It costs nothing, and there is nothing to sign up for.

No warranty

As the license says, Vespertine is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. Keep backups of your music. Vespertine only changes files when you edit their tags, and backs each one up first, but you use it at your own risk.

Your music and other services

You are responsible for having the right to play the music you add. Vespertine can't play DRM-protected files and doesn't try to. MusicBrainz, the Cover Art Archive and ListenBrainz are independent services with their own terms, which apply when you use them through Vespertine.

Trademarks

Dolby, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby TrueHD are trademarks of Dolby Laboratories. DTS, DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS:X are trademarks of DTS, Inc. Apple, AirPods, AirPods Max, Mac, macOS and Spatial Audio are trademarks of Apple Inc. Vespertine names them only to describe what it plays and where. It isn't certified, licensed or endorsed by Dolby, DTS or Apple.
